Your Cigna medical plan is designed to treat what are known as acute conditions. These are conditions that need treatment but respond quickly, leading to a full recovery. Chronic conditions are not normally covered. These are long-term conditions that need constant or regular care to keep them monitored or under control.

Please note that you may be covered for acute flare ups or an exacerbation of a chronic condition - this occurs when symptoms of a disease that has been present for a time suddenly worsen.
