What does my plan not cover?

How we can help

Your plan usually won’t cover private consultation or treatment for:

• chronic illnesses such as HIV/AIDs-related illnesses, diabetes, epilepsy, hypertension and related illnesses*
• normal pregnancy and childbirth costs
• organ transplants
• injuries relating to dangerous sports or arising from war or war-like hostilities
• cosmetic surgery to improve your appearance

For many of these health events, a specialised NHS hospital is the best place to be.  However, even if you are not claiming on your plan, our nurses will provide you with guidance and support and explain alternative treatment options.

* Please note that you may be covered for acute flare ups or an exacerbation of a chronic condition –this occurs when symptoms of a disease that has been present for a time suddenly worsen.
