Cigna UK HealthCare Benefits (UKHB) has responded to growing consumer demand for affordable dental care. A new feature on the DentaCare plan provides full refunds for covered treatments and is the first of its kind in the UK. The feature addresses consumer concerns over the affordability of dental treatment costs. This follows recent OFT review findings which highlighted patient confusion over dental treatments and costs.
The full cover feature is available on Cigna DentaCare Level 3 and Level 4 plans. Customers simply have to use a dentist who has signed up to the full cover arrangement. Initially, participating dentists will be located in London and customers can search for a dentist using an online tool or a free-phone helpline. They can also nominate their own dentist to become involved in the full cover arrangement.
To recruit dentists, Cigna has teamed up with Munroe Sutton the UK affiliate of Careington International Corporation, the premier US marketer of dental, medical, health and lifestyle discount plans. Munroe Sutton currently maintains a reputable network of 1,000 dental and optical providers in the UK.
Kirsty Jagielko, Head of Product Management at Cigna says, “Our annual customer research highlights concerns over shortfalls for dental claims. The affordability of dental care is now a key issue amongst many consumers. Dentist charges can be particularly high in London and the South East. We have devoted time and effort to develop a solution to this. Our full cover feature helps make dental treatment more affordable and makes an already appealing employee benefit even more attractive. Employers and intermediaries now have an innovative solution to help employees afford dental treatment costs.”
