Can I have treatment overseas?

How we can help

This medical plan is not a travel policy and doesn’t provide the level of comprehensive cover a full travel insurance policy will provide. It’s mainly designed to provide cover in the United Kingdom. The plan will provide limited cover abroad for emergency situations, but you should not rely on this. You should always make sure you have appropriate travel insurance before you travel.

Please remember that in some countries medical expenses can be higher than the UK. Also, some overseas expenses such as GP fees and prescriptions are not covered, as these would be paid for by the NHS in the UK.

The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is available from the post office or online. It can be used to get urgent treatment for accidents and unexpected illness in most EEA countries. The EHIC replaces the old form E111.

Please remember to check your plan details to make sure you are eligible for this cover and to see if any limits apply. You should always contact us to check your cover before going ahead with any treatment.
