Where do I go in an emergency?

For immediate life threatening emergencies - dial 999 or 112 in case you need to be rushed into the accident and emergency department of a hospital.  For emergencies that are not life-threatening or immediate you should call the NHS telephone service relevant to your location:

England - dial 111 (calls are free from landlines and mobile phones)

Scotland – dial 111 (calls are free from landlines and mobile phones)

Wales – dial 0845 46 47 (calls are chargeable. There are plans to adopt the 111 number by around mid-2015)

All lines are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.  There is no equivalent service in Northern Ireland.

The adviser will help you:

If you become critically unwell whilst staying in a private hospital, you are likely to be transferred back to the NHS for emergency care.  Call your Helpline for authorisation to be transferred to private facility once stabilised and if needed.

Treatments carried out at minor injuries clinic in a private hospital aren’t covered under your Cigna plan.
